CRAIC AGUS CEOL LIVE MUSIC!

CRAIC AGUS CEOL LIVE MUSIC!

CAC started out as “Craic Agus Ceol” in 2012 as a group of musicians putting together some Irish tunes for a St. Patrick’s Day event in Greenwich, NY. After that, a few line-up changes, and Craic Agus Ceol was off and running, playing venues from the Catskills of NY to the ski resorts of Vermont, and numerous venues and festivals in New Yorks Capital District-Saratoga region. Our original name,“Craic Agus Ceol”, is Irish Gaelic for “fun and music”, and that’s exactly what CAC brings to the stage. As time went on, Craic Agus Ceol branched out into other genres of music. With the addition of genres outside the Irish/Celtic tradition, Craic Agus Ceol shortened their name to “CAC”... a name easier to remember as well. We are, at the core, still an Irish band and love playing those toe-tapping Celtic folk and rock songs in Irish pubs, festivals, and for any Irish themed event. But we’re a party band too, playing tunes from The Eagles, Old Crow Medicine Show, Steve Earle, John Prine, R.E.M., The Highwaymen, Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney... you get the picture; we’re all over the map. If you want a trop rock night, we can do that. Need dance music, we can do that too. And of course we continue to rock Irish venues with our Irish tunes. You’ll hear lead instrumentals on penny whistle, mandolin, and rockin’ electric guitar. We’re known for our shared vocal leads, tight harmonization and solid instrumental mixes and leads including guitar, banjo, mandolin, penny whistle, and bodhran. To sum it up, CAC delivers a varied and engaging performance, and can tailor their act to your needs. CAC is available to play in eastern New York and western New England. From toe tapping Irish pub songs to trop rock, CAC’s music will delight any audience.

Northern Borne LIVE

Northern Borne Originating in the Adirondacks and currently hailing from Washington County, Northern Borne is a duo comprised of Sarah Babushkin (mandolin, guitar, lead vocals) and John Wensley (banjo, dobro). Northern Borne is an eclectic mix of bluegrass and folk with a hint of jam band and blues thrown in for an old-timey groove sound. Sarah’s soulful voice and hard pounding rhythm playing mixed with John’s sometimes melodic, sometimes bluesy, sometimes Bluegrass banjo style makes this duo’s sound both unique and intriguing. Their music can drive down the track like a train or take you on a trip back in time.

Strangled Darlings LIVE on Valentine's Day (or Single's Awareness Day)

All you need is love….and beer….and tacos….and chocolate stout cupcakes..and live music with the Strangled Darlings! Come celebrate being single, or coupled, or just happy! We’ll have games and prizes for this glorious day of love!

Jess and George met at party in 2009, with their spontaneous duet of the Prince song, "Pussy Control". Soon after that they formed a band around a principle of originality and ruthless editing of their work. The name of the band draws inspiration from southern author William Faulkner who would tell his writing students that 'sometimes in writing you must strangle your darlings'.

Jess is a trained classical violinist but picked up cello and discovered that she was actually a bass player. George found his degree in English Lit pays better as an indie musician and so learned the mandolin. They have written and toured as a full band but once they decided to tour the US full time and in a 20 foot RV, there was only enough extra room for the little dog.

The music is built on deep sense of rhythm and groove, carried by George on mandolin and Jess on custom tenor bass & foot drums. His mandolin bursts out in a slalom of notes and snare drum rhythms. Her solid body custom tenor bass weaves an intricate counter melody and her feet pound a percussive groove. The voices and the lyrics are the hidden third member of the band and the story behind the music. The songs work with nontraditional subjects for inspiration. Some song subjects include: the works of great authors (Faulkner, William Blake, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Donald Bartheleme, Anna Ahkmatova) as well as witchcraft in the Civil War, the morality of Somali piracy and the media impact of Neil Armstrong.

Strangled Darlings have released 3 full length albums and one EP, receiving critical praise from local and national press alike. In between touring, they live in Vermont on a mountain orchard overrun by bears.
